Mission
Statement
We contribute to the well being of our community by providing the highest
quality:
Phoenix Interfaith Counseling was started by a group of clergy in 1973 in response to an urgent and growing need for affordable mental health counseling services in Maricopa County. Although our roots are in the faith community and we recognize the spiritual needs of our clients, we are not affiliated with any denomination or faith group and the services we provide are based on a professional behavioral health model. Phoenix Interfaith Counseling services are available to all, regardless of age, sex , race or religious preference.
Our staff consists of therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists and other professionals skilled in providing a wide array of mental health services to adults, adolescents and children, in individual and group settings. We are able to deliver these services cost-effectively, while offering innovative, new programs because of our commitment to being a learning organization and to providing continuing education training to mental health professionals and the community.
Throughout PIC's history, collaboration with other community-based and healthcare organizations has been a defining strategy. Today we are a member of the Southwest Behavioral Health Network and also belong to a large, informal network of churches, schools, and other non- profit, community groups. The net effect of this extensive collaboration is that we are able to deliver mental health counseling services cost-effectively, while offering innovative, new programs which complement-rather than compete with-the services offered by our behavioral healthcare partners. Two examples are our work with Florence Crittenton to provide an innovative new program that helps adolescents deal with their self-harming behaviors and suicidal thoughts; and our work with Homeward Bound to provide counseling services to adults and children in their transitional housing program.
